Introductions - Indiana Newbie

Hi all, from Northwest Indiana. My name is Jeff and I've been lurking here for a while and decided to jump in. I've been off a bicycle for 35 years and am just getting back on. Riding for pleasure/fitness. Lost quite a bit of weight over the last year and am hoping biking will help me get under 200. So I guess I'm a Clyde. Rode my 70's Motobecane for a few weeks and bit the bullet and bought a Trek. Riding 10 miles daily now, want to get a 25 miler under my belt

Hi Jeff, are you saying that there's no love for the Moto? How about a photo anyway? I just got myself a beautiful Motobecane Grand Jubile mixte about three weeks ago...

No, I liked the Moto, it's just that it was 1970's 10 speed with dryrotted tires, stem shifters, ect, and I wanted something modern. Plan to fix-up the Moto this winter.

Your right! I did 27 miles in under 2 hours Saturday and wasn't too sore or tired. There is a charity ride later this month and now I am trying to decide between 40 or 60 miles. Need to do a couple of more 25's in less time before I get too cocky though. So how's the jump from 25 to 60?

The Motobecane I purchased about a month ago had dry rotted tyres as well. Interestingly, the shifters were bar end shifters.

However, I do now feel obliged to say that the Schwinn Paramount I just got this past week also has stem shifters :) .

It was apparently ordered that way!
