Framebuilders - Carbon frame repair?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

It had never occurred to me that a CF frame could be repaired, but I just read in the road forum that Calfee and some others offer this service. Has anyone ever had this done? It isn't cheap, but it isn't nearly as much as even a cheap new frame.
I have a Kuota Kharma frame that I crashed that has hairline cracks where the internal lug is. It isn't a high-end CF frame, but I did like riding it.

calfee is around $400 for a repair, and you can buy a pedal force or bikes direct frame for around the same price.
We had a big bun fight here, look it up, about whether one should even repair a carbon struture. On principle I just don't see the problem, but I also respect that as much as I know what is done routinely, the people objecting had taken hold of some important issues. Proceed with care.

If they can repair the space shuttle and airplanes (yup lots carbon on airplanes!) why not have carbon frame repaired? Several well qualified US carbon bike builders can/will repair c/f bikes.
Have broken 2 steel frames and 1 steel fork, but never c/f in the past quarter million miles of cycling.
And if you want the other side of the question just do the search.

Unless of course it is a Cervelo or some other $2000+ frame that needs repairing. Then $400 doesn't sound like such a bad idea.
