I am training for my first tri. I have been cycling and swimming and a little running ( I know I need to run more). Anyways my first tri is Oct 5th, it is a sprint and in calm water and flat so I think I should do ok. My question is there is a race on Oct 18th in Vegas and my club is really promoting this and it sounds really fun, is that to soon to go out and do another tri if I am just starting. I need to sign up soon so I won't know how I feel or anything like that after the first one before I need to sign up for the one on the 18th. Anyone newbie ever try to do 2 within 10 days of each other?

i dont see anything wrong with that. As long as you don't go into the second race with any sort of injury, you'll be fine.

Actually, that could work to your benefit because you'll be able to use the first race as a learning experience, then go right into the second race being more experienced.

yeah, not too soon. I've done them pretty close together like that.

You should be more than fine. The first race is really only just over an hour of work, so you'll be plenty recovered. My second season I did back to back OLY's and felt fine.

Good luck, and have a blast.

It will depend on your level of fitness, but I've done several races on the weekend, up to three weeks in a row. Unless you're peaking for a big event, it's all training...

I agree...it all depends on your level of fitness and the duration of your race. You can treat one as a race while the other as a recovery or somewhat a long training session.
