But all I can find are the FSA headset compressor:
http://www.fullspeedahead.com/products/road/pages/spacers/compressor.htm

And some generic Supergo one:

Nashbar and Performance don't carry anything like that... in fact I can't even find star fangled nuts on their websites.

So, calling all you people out there with forks with carbon steerers: what do you have in your fork? What should I buy? Is there another name for devices like this?

There is an insert for 1" carbon steer tubes which includes a star fangled nut. The insert is basically a cylinder which is glued to the inside of the steer tube. It reinforces the steerer from the stem to the compression ring of the aheadset. I'm sure one exists for 1 1/8". Sorry, no other info...

The Quality Bike Parts catalog, which every bikeshop has, show 7 different plugs. Try your bikeshop.

Help me out here.....FSA and Supergo have them and list them for 1" and 1 1/8" steeres.....So, my question is....What exactly are you looking for and why not use one of the above?

Here's another option...

I use this with my Profile fork. Seems to work fine; haven't had any problems with it.

You can get here...

i bought the gap cap.... and it doesn't work. my fork has an unusual design in that the steerer is not totally hollow.... about 2 inches into the steerer, there's like a reinforcing thing that bars further entry

Are you the original owner of the fork? If not, the orginal owner may have put a star fangled nut in the steerer (not good) instead of using a compression cap. I had this done (unbeknowst to me) by a LBS and it cracked my carbon steerer.

no no no... lol i know what a star fangled nut is.... the reinforcing thing is part of the fork design.... basically it looks like a circle with a plus sign going thru the middle. i'm guessing it's made of the same carbon fiber that the fork is made of.
