Fifty Plus (50+) - What a great forum!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Just like to say that i really enjoy this forum and its approach to bicycling. It seems that with any hobby these days people will take it to the extreme and if you don't know everything and have the latest greatest equipment you "aint" in. It seems that this forum has a much more lighthearted but serious enough focus as not to be boring but definitely not over the top. Thankyou to all the posters in the 50+ forum for the much more laid back atmosphere. Btw i'm 37 and on my 3rd rum and coke so what do i know.
Peace

Yes, goodhearted folk here.
However, most of us had more than 3 rum and cokes by the age of 37. Do you think you'll fit in?
Welcome!
Welcome to the lite side, the light side of biking... seems like there is a lot of younger ones that like our older style. Although I don't consider it older...just more realistic. Keep up the good work.
We are old enough not to take ourselves too seriously. :)

Vodka grapefruit, not the sweet pink stuff.
Aye thanks for the tips. Keep up the good work, i really enjoy the humor in this forum. I have to send out a thought request for a downed cyclist in memphis,tn over the weekend. Hit by an auto but last i heard was recovering.Be careful out there.

Welcome! Just stay out of the Politics and Religion forum and you'll keep your sanity. Or simply up it to 5 or 6 rum and cokes and wade right in.
Welcome reb450, glad you found us. I've drank my share of rum and coke...but these days it's been bourbon and coke or bourbon and soda.

Why do these youngsters keep telling us how old they are? If they would just lie and make themselves 50+ they wouldn't have to ask permission to post! :)

Anyone who mixes good liquor with coke is too young to post here. If you must add anything, water, preferably frozen water.

Hmmmm . . .
68-37 = 31
YIKES!!
I'm not only old enough to be this guys father, biologically, I could be his GRANDFATHER!
Where IS that 65+ Forum?
This is scary.
And I don't even drink rum and cokes.
Gotta go for a ride and swim to recover.
Bye!

Good point. I was overlooking this when we were only talking about rum. But then someone mentioned bourbon and coke and I couldn't hold my tongue in the presence of such blasphemy.:notamused:

+1. If they'd wanted it mixed with something they'd have done it at the distillery.
Welcome Reb450.

OK, I did a 20 mile ride, had breakfast, then a 10 lap swim, and I am slowly recovering from this young'un invading the 50+ forum!
Welcome! Glad you like us. :)

Hahaha...maybe you're jumping the gun there with that assumption. We'll just say welcome and the "liking us" part will come in due time.

Steve - initially I would get myself well soused before tackling this forum - my elixir of choice was gin & tonic, gave up bourbon & coke when I was your age. There is no such thing as a good gin, just ones that mix better with tonic (I prefer Bombay blue but generally drink the cheapest thing I can get my hands on). So - get yourself liqoured up and come back, eventually you will find that we are just plain fun.
If you come back and ask - I will tell you my favorite Virginia Gentleman & coke story...

Grow up, Louis. Any liquor cheap enough to mix with Coke a Cola is too cheap for you to be drinking. Get yourself a bottle of George Dickel and have a good sip.:)

I used to drink George Dickel, it was good stuff. Maybe next time I'll splurge and pick up a bottle. :thumb:
Grapefruit juice and vodka is great stuff works great for back pain. Although after a few i got to feeling lonely and i've come to the conclusion that Dnvrfox may be my biological daddy.

Maybe time for a sticky about stickies?

When I used to drink, I drank cheap whiskey. Since I no longer drink, I can afford to not drink Chivas Regal and Napoleon brandy! I also don't smoke the finest Cuban cigars!
