I'm not sure how well these threads work out, but it's at least worth a try. I'm thinking more of the groups that ride are north, even south of here, but perhaps there are some within this area. I know summer is almost coming to a close, but it's really not too late. I'm starting to get more into cycling, though I'm not a hardcore cyclist, but enjoy it very much and have ventured out and gone on longer rides this summer than I did last summer, when I started road cycling. I rode my bike all the way from Riverview, down Jefferson, to Hart Plaza, which was quite a nice ride.

Anyways, I'm just curious as to who in the area rides and if anyone is interested in doing group rides, small or medium.

I think there's a Downriver Cycling Club that you might check out. They're the ones that put on the Metro Grand Spring Tour out of Willow Metropark each May.

Yes, I didn't really feel like looking it up last night (to verify where they are based and I still can't totally verify it), but they are very far downriver, south of me. I can only presume that by looking at theroutes (http://www.lmb.org/dcc/page4.html) that they favor. None of the routes are all that close to me. A route they'd have to include is Jefferson, which offers a road in decent shape with moderate to low traffic, in the Downriver area, and south and north of it.

The Downriver group is a very nice and accommodating group. They often ride down in teh Lower Huron Metropark, south of I-94 at the Haggerty exit. I ride down there sometimes after work. I work near there but live in Ann Arbor, so meeting up with you in Detroit would be a drive.

There's also teh League of Michigan Bicyclists, www.lmb.org I think, and it has a list of Michigan clubs.

Beat the Train (www.beatthetrain.com) has Saturday morning rides out of Fort Wayne.

Lower Huron Metro Park is about 14 miles from me. I'll contact someone maybe.

I pass that when I ride on Jefferson. That's (http://www.beatthetrain.com/) just WAY too early for me though. I bet the rides are great though, because there is not nearly as much traffic, up until about 7:30/8 AM. Maybe some day though.

I wouldn't mind starting some group rides though, that originate from within at least 15 miles of Riverview, MI.

Dtown, if you're interested in the Lower Huron paths, I could show them to you on a Wednesday after the "normal" workday. PM me if you want to try this out. I work near there, so it's an after-work ride for me.
