I just bought a resistance trainer and wanted to begin doing interval and hill workouts on it. I am new to indoor cycling scene and needed some advice on designing workouts. Does anyone have any suggestions? Does anyone have any good 45 minute workouts that they like to do during the winter? How should I even begin designing my own workouts? Thank you for the help!

Goldberg,
What I would suggest is get the Sally Edwards
HRM book for indoor and outdoor cyclists. it has
alot of indoor "rides", and workouts. they target different
things, but you can tailor the system/workouts to your
particular needs.
Other than that I'd say the Spinervals tapes.

There are lots of good books on bike training & conditioning, many of which feature trainer work-outs and training programs. They also have background training info, if you need it. When you start getting bored, and want some variety, do a web search. Most of the cyclist coaching sites and bike racing mag sites have articles with work-out suggestions.

I use the CTS (Carmichael Training Systems) video "Climbing" on my indoor trainer. After watching it four or five times you might get bored, so you can remember how to do the workout and do it while watching a "Tour de France" video, there are so many races to choose from. I have found that my climbing skills have greatly improved from this practiced twice a week. Good Luck.......

I have several of the Spinergy DVDs and I really like #7 "The Uphill Grind" but I enjoy climbing. I balance it out with #3 "Suffer O-Rama" (it has some out of saddle work), and #8.0 "Recovery and Technique".
