KinLin Rims; 20/24/28 hole. Black only. 27mm are ~430 grams, 30mm are ~455.

I have no price information yet, just a 'yeah, we can do that..' but for the sake of argument let's assume I can get them for $40.

EDIT: They'll actually be $34 each, plus shipping, which eventually works out to $86 for two.

Show of hands?

I am in for at least a 24/28 hole pair of 30s to match the hubs...the 27s are tubular right?

ElJamoquio
07-31-08, 08:56 AM
No. Both the 27's and the 30's are clinchers. Tubulars are 25's and 440 grams. I've never seen them, but if they're on par with KinLin's other products, they should be OK.

I'm in for 24h/28h 30's.

I gotta get something to go with the hubs, right? Is there any difference between the 27's and 30's other than 3mm? Do you have a preference?

Fat Boy

Any chance of getting the Kinlin 22mm rim?

ElJamoquio
07-31-08, 02:59 PM
If we can find ~10 rims worth, I'm willing to ask.

I think I'd like some to match the hubs. 24/28 in the 27mm. Pity they don't do silver. Black rims look terrible. Ho hum.

$40 per pair or per rim?

Is this the 30mm?

I am ot the OP but each and yes are the correct answers.

I'm in on the shallowest pair of rims that eventually gets ordered. Hopefully the 22's. So you climbers and weight weenies. The 22's come in at 390 grams, which can translate to about a 1350 gram wheelset.

Mostly I want it because a shallow rim will look better on the old bike I plan to run these wheels on, but that's a different story.

I'm in too, for the shallowest we can get (22mm if we have enough people, otherwise 27mm). 20/24.

Can you get the 27 in a 32 hole?

Count me in for the 30mm 20/24.

Thanks,

I would be in for one set of clincher and one set of tubular.

If 32 hole, I'm in for a pair.

Do these come in non-machined sidewall? I'm looking to pair them up with disc hubs.

Jynx

I'd be in for a 28 and 32 hole 30mm deep

I'd probably be in for the 24/28 30's. Then I'd have to find the hubs, spokes, wheelbuilder.... :)

Interested in 30 clinchers, and 25 tubulars, and hubs if you have any extras?

Don't know.

If 32 hole, I'm in for a pair.

I'll see if they're available.

No.

What holes would you want?

I am very interested in a set of 30mm or 27mm clincher or tubular in 24/28 drilling, depending on price.

I'd be down for a set of tubular ones. 24/28 spokes

Absolutely count me in for a set of 27mm clincher, 24/28 hole

Hmmm... with the hubs it wasn't an issue (flat rate shipping boxes), but for the rims...

Anyone have a source for boxes?

slynkie

Not great, but I can get free 2nd day shipping on these 26x26x6 -
http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/p4_Staples-Corrugated-Shipping-Boxes---26-Length_98728_Business_Supplies_0_10051_SC1:CG16:DP1428:CL140754:SS988109

or, 26x26x26 is actually slightly cheaper -
http://www.staples.com/office/supplies/StaplesProductDisplay?storeId=10001&jspStoreDir=Staples&productId=13187&cmSearchKeyword=426421+&fromUrl=home&cmArea=SEARCH&catalogId=10051&langId=-1

rims are something like 24.5" diameter, right? 622mm?

caveat is, I can only ship to my office...

:notamused: I already have a set of 24/28 Kinlin 270s sitting in my office waiting on those magic formula hubs. I didn't pay that much more than $40, but I should have waited. *******.

274's on the front if I recall correctly. I haven't been able to find the rears specs. I'm going to do a 3D CAD model to figure it out, but with the hubs still probably at least a month out, I haven't been in a big hurry.

ElJamoquio

Looks like they'll be ~$34 each plus shipping. And shipping will have to include boxes, too. $6 per box + a reasonable 'actual' shipping cost... I don't want to have to bill everyone differently.

Shipping from my house to Virginia Beach, VA (I just happen to know the zip code as I used to live there) is ~$12.

So total, for two rims, would be $86.

Still definitely in for one 24h and one 28h 30mm rims.

You mentioned the hubs as a month away. Are you talking about from shipping or from arrival at your place? Cheers!

ElJamoquio
08-08-08, 09:53 AM
I was quoted at something like 45 days. I really don't know if that was time until they shipped, or time until received; but I'm betting they'd still have to make it over on the boat.

Formula hub group buy, already closed.

If you could run that for the 27mm rims as well, one customer would be very, very happy. At the very least, if you could put up the hub specs (24 F / 28 R in my case) when you get them, I would appreciate it so I can do my own calculations.

Many thanks again for your hard work on this.

I only happened on to this group buy because I remembered that this place has a group buy area some days ago. Was this group buy (or the hub one which I missed) mentioned anywhere else on the site? Not like you should be thinking that you are shilling this, but I'd think more people would be interested if word did get out.
