I thought I'd give the Folsom Loop a go. 50 miles, 3500 feet of climbing. Here's the route: http://www.cyclefolsom.com/webform/ridePreview.aspx?rideId=folsomlake&title=FOLSOM+LAKE

Anyone interested?

I was planning to do a long ride with the Wheelmen on Sunday, but if there's enough interest on this ride, I wouldn't mind doing a shorter ride with friends..

Hey Joel... I was on vacation during your introductory period here but I live locally (Elk Grove) and ride a lot. I'm out of town this weekend, but any weekend you want to ride PM me. You should hook up with a club like the Wheelmen. They do a lot of ARBT rides and it's a very mellow and mostly older group of riders. www.sacwheelmen.org
Oh! Welcome to BF. :thumb:

As for Matt... What ride are you doing with them? The Galt one or the Plymouth one? You should try the Monday or Thursday night training ride. Monday one is in Natomas and really big, Thursday is smaller and at Cavanaugh GC on Freeport... I do the Thursday since it's bike-commutable. It's a quick and painful 23 miles.

Definitely interested, but unfortunately I can't make it Sunday. Joel, I know your weekend schedule is usually pretty busy, but just wondering if you & NachoMC would consider going Saturday instead? If not, no worries, I'll link up with you guys again soon enough!

In any case, this weekend's forecast should be just about perfect for this route!

I've ridden with the guys on Monday night. They really cook!

This weekend I'm going to ride the Galt ride. Mountain Biking with FATRAC Saturday morning ;)

I'm told Thursday is faster due to the one-pack smallishness of the ride... :twitchy: I usually feel pukish at some point during that ride.

Well, we'll meet one of these days. If I were in town I'd be doing that Galt ride with you. I like that market they stop at in Linden and then there are some sweet rollers on the way back. Have fun!

It looks like the Wheelmen do some pretty good rides weekly. Let me know if you want to do one some time - my strategy right now is going to be mountain biking Saturdays and a nice long ride, probably with the Wheelmen Sundays.

Totally unrelated, but hey Rushfan... Did you catch Rush on "The Colbert Report"? My 6y.o. girl requests watching it daily. She LOL's hysterically at Colbert's antics at the end. I find them failing Tom Sawyer on Rock Band even more funny. Neil is the first of the 3 too!!! FTW?

I'm lucky. My wife & son both like my music, for the most part, and I like theirs, for the most part. My son saw it was coming on and recorded it then told me about it after. It was pretty fun for a hardcore fan like me...

Thanks for posting the Rock Band video-hadn't seen that.

Joel - I'm re-thinking my decision to ride with the Wheelmen tomorrow. They're a great group but I don't know if I feel like driving. I was thinking of just heading out on my bike in the morning and going in your direction, but I'd get a late start, like 9-930 at the earliest. You want me to call in the AM if I am heading out there and I'll meet you at Hagan? Not trying to be wishy washy, I just feel awful right now - I cut my mountain bike ride in half this morning and have no idea how I'll be feeling later.

That sounds good. E-mail me a phone number and I'll give you a call in the am.

I'm going with another BF member up to the Diablo junction and down through Walnut Creek. It's about a 35 mile loop. We're starting and ending in Walnut Creek and setting out late - about 10:30am or so.

Otherwise, I'd give you a shout!

Joel - I emailed you my phone #. I'm actually feeling a lot better over the last hour or so. I think the egg sandwich I had this morning just didn't play well my stomach :\

Ken

The Monday night rides start @ 5:30 here (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&saddr=&daddr=38.610244,-121.508719&hl=en&geocode=&mra=mi&mrsp=0&sz=19&sll=38.610244,-121.508676&sspn=0.00131,0.003098&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=19). They go out Garden highway, right on powerline rd, left on elverta, then left on garden highway allllll the way back (typically, they may also go down San Juan, then right on Azevedo to the start point). They have two groups, typically: fast, and really fast. The "fast" group does a stop on the Garden hwy following elverta The other guys...well, they just GO. If they do the normal route, which is to stay on garden hwy all the way back, it's 28 miles. My avg speed on that ride was 22.6 and at some point I hit 33 (there's no hills other than overpasses).

Thursday's ride is a 23 miler where the pace is usually 22-25mph, but there are 4 sprints (ending with regroup) which always top 30mph. Missed last Thursday but will probably be out this Thurs.
