Road Cycling - Coppi51, Dekkerfan, anyone who's ridden on Maui, Hawaii...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I'm looking for a good place or two to check out bike rentals. I'm going in late July and want a bike for the week that I'll be there. I've only found a couple of places with Google and wondered where your home away from home shop was while you were there. Thanks!

I can't give you an exact shop but there are lots of rental places. You won't have any problems finding a bike to ride. Keep in mind that there is basically one road around the island, and limited major highways. Highway 30 has very small shoulders and traffic is a huge issue on Maui. Ride safely and carefully.

i've biked maui many times, and i can honestly say that the best guy has a shop out of his house and isn't in the 'yellow pages' -->its only word of mouth.
he's got rentals. just bring your shoes and helmet. its been a while for me, but my friend just went a few months ago and caught some nice group rides with him.
i can pursue his number/locale if you are interested.
there is also a crazy ride that bikes UP Mt Holyakala

Thanks, man. I'm planning on doing Haleakala while I'm there. We'll see how that all works out, but that's the plan. Is the gocyclingmaui site the guy that does stuff out of his house?
