Is anyone doing the Litchfield Hills tour this weekend? I believe last year they had over 1000 entries.

can't - its my anniversary and I told my wife I'd only ride a little bit in the morning and do a family day. I live in Pawling and ride a lot of those roads-- it should be magnificent-- depending on what route you do, the climbing should be outstanding.

where are you in CT?
I'm in New Milford. I really want to do the 75 route but need to be at family function in the afternoon soooo... might have to do the 50. This year they added a 100 miler which has some big climbs and starts at 7am as opposed to the 75 and 50 which start a 8. Great roads around there.

Hope you had a good ride and that the weather was kind to you. I rode it last year (the 50 miler) and it was great fun, well supported.

I'm going to do the 75 today (monday), but start from my house in Pawling. The extra miles to and from route 7 in Kent should put me a little over 100 miles. Just not looking forward to the section of 202 in Torrington.
Thanks, and I did. Weather was generallly good but in the higher elevations (town of Goshen) the winds were pretty high at times, you really needed to be in a paceline or group or the wind would really hammer you. Just as previous years it was well planned and seems to be getting bigger every year. No doubt the best organized tour I ever ridden. Met some really cool people also.

Let me know how the route is. Yea, 202 from torrington to Litchfield is a steady uphill, but after Litchfield is a nice elevation drop till you hit 341.
I will be riding this route in a few weeks with a slight deviation. I plan to ride the River Road, just east of Housatonic River, parallel to 7, north of West Cornwall.
Is this road paved? How bad is it?

I don't know for sure but something in my memory says it's dirt or partly paved.

Rt 7 itself is excellent to ride on in that area.

I was more concerned w/ traffic in that area-- I actually skipped 202 from torrington to Litchfield-- I headed down South Main from Coe Park and picked up 118 into Litchfield-- THAT is hilly- it's also newly paved w/ a huge shoulder-- the absolute worst section was riding 202 from Litchfield to 341-- dont know if you guys had this on the 3rd, but the road was milled for repaving for 4 or 5 miles-- that SUCKED. All in all, I ended up w/ 110 miles for my ride from home.

Ah yea, the hill up 118 is long but yes smooth and wide shoulders, it really allows you to get into a rythum for climbing. 202 will be better once paved but man it's horrible now, nothing worse than riding on a freshly milled road prior to paving. All in all sounds like a good ride.
