I had my rim start wobbling side to side so I brought it into my LBS. So i got it back FINE. it was like new, but after a week of park riding/Dj it starting wobbling again, when I brought it in to be trued, they said that someone tightened my spokes so tight it cant be trued. then they told me that it would hold up fine.

Is that true?

And i can true a wheel myself but I am curious, cant they jsut loosen the spokes???

What a total hack job. The key to maintaining proper wheel true is even spoke tension. Sounds like they tightened the spokes to just get the wobble out without regard to tension.

Was this a used bike?
Possibly, someone bent the rim and was able to get it "round" by really "torquing" on SOME of the spokes. A wheel like that won't stay true.
