Has anyone ever ridden the Henry Hudson Trail in New Jersey, specifically the part that runs from Aberdeen to Leonardo in Monmouth County? It's about 9.5 miles long and runs over an abandoned railroad line. The website says parts of the trail run through woods. I'm wondering if it's safe to ride it alone or better to ride with someone else?

Steven, it is pretty safe during the day, although there were a couple of kids that started chasing me once, asking to look at my bike. It's a nice ride along the shore, but it's a bit bumpy for a MUP.
Bring a cell phone. The other parts of the trail, I would consider to be a bit safer.

Steve,
Thanks for the info on the HH Trail. Also, what is a MUP?

The trail is nice, most of it is shaded.
I usually run alone on it, so I'd say it's safe, but I only go from Port Monmouth down to Leonardo. I've biked the entire trail, and probably the Keansburg and Keyport segments might be more unsafe.
The only hazzard I heard of are coyotes, but never saw one.
It used to be bumpier, now they repaved parts of it, but it's still too many street crossings.
