I had my first Winter Cycling crash today. I was transitioning off a downhill dry pavement stretch onto an icecovered parking lot. I felt the back wheel give a little than a few seconds later it was all over.

The bike laid down and skidded about 15 feet. Me on the other hand, I made an Olympic Vaulting style landing. I mean I nailed it. I landed on both feet and stuck the landing. It was perfect. Problem was, nobody was watching. I bet if there had been an audience I would have landed on my arse.

Today's ride also left me wondering why nobody ever mentions stomach burn on here. Maybe nobody gets it. I am not talking about an upset stomach. I am talking about the skin on my stomach getting red and burning when I am out in cold temps. I think it is because of the way the wind hits the stomach in the cycling position.

My problem is figuring out how to control it without putting so many clothes on that I sweat. I have tried, grocery sacks taped to the front of my jersey under my jacket etc. The only thing that really stops it is wearing a HEAVY mid-layer which makes me sweat. Anyone else get "stomach burn?"

yeah, i get the stomach burn as well. it's annoying, but not as bad as having cold toes. i figured it was more from sweat and cold air than the wind b/c i wear a windbreaker. ???

Had an idea, why not sew up something that looks like a bib made of thinsulate or what ever is good/handy?
Insulation in front, only where you need it.
