Mountain Biking - Pardon the appearance, just ditched the other 8 gears.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Back on a hardtail which is set up as a SS. Just disregard the cassette and deraillieur, that will be changed tomorrow. And I'm NOT going back to a full suspension bike.

Why not?

Due to my dislike of moving parts and felt like I was getting lazy with picking lines.

I've given full suspension a shot for one year, and I've always felt somewhat out of place on it and had more trouble with it than I have ever had with my 4 previous hardtails.

So you're gonna put a shifter on it or you're gonna make it a proper SS?

Have something to do with the new statement under your name?

Got to do some fine adjustments to the drivetrain yet , ditch the cassette and get some spacers for it and set the chainline.

I do climb, but there is nothing here that I haven't been able to climb on a SS before.

...and Smashy becomes a real man while Chelboed cannot exit the 1x9 stage of life.

I like the DMR.

Not sure yet. I'll probably run a combo that I have always had luck with on previous singlespeeds.

Not sure yet.

I rode mine in 32/17 for a while yesterday. I think if I were going to be dedicated SS...I'd either do that or an 18...I'm too outta shape for 2:1, haha.

Prob. change it out to a 14-16 when I went to my lesser frequented trail with few climbs.

I'm thinking maybe 32/16, am strong enough to pull that combo due to the fact I run 50x15 on my fixed gear.

Wound up making my own spacers with pvc pipe. Which allowed me to dial in a perfect chainline and got lucky with a 36x16 gearing that I didn't need a chain tensioner.
