Ok, I found this out on the web (might have been e-buy)
but it is perfect for you. I know I'd ride it, even if it isn't
fully period correct. Should really post this in classic/vintage
but what the heck.

This is just about what my bike looked like until I moved up to an Eros in the fall. They are still great bikes.

Ok, you started it, so here's another picture of a Bianchi. This photo is taken from www.speedbicycles.ch(since it is a much better photog than I could take). I purchased this bicycle from Speedbicycles and currently own and ride this Campione Del Mondo model bicycle. It is box stock original.

okay...what is up with all of the non-celeste cork tape? I'm going crazy here!

The tape on the Campione Del Mondo I posted above is some brand of factory installed cloth tape color matched to the decals. I doubt I will ever find an exact match. And looking at the taping pattern carefully, I'm certain it wasn't taped by an amateur.

Here is a link to another Bee-you-tea-full Bianchi, the exact model I owned. Mine was stolen in Cambridge, MA. I purchased this bike new in 1982 and built it myself. The bike pictured has had the bars retaped. It originally came with hand stitched black leather on the bars. The water bottle cage and toe straps on this bike are not original, but other than that, it is a fairly pristine example of the team issue bike. Notice the milled brake levers. The shift levers are also milled and filled with the Italian national colors.

The frame was built with what Bianchi labels their "Superset". According to the catalog, it had Columbus SP downtube and chainstays for a very stiff "keel" in sprints, and Columbus SL fork blades, top tube, seat tube, and seat stays for a more comfortable ride. Notice the Columbus decal between the shift levers. The chrome was immaculate. I had rebuilt my wheels with Mavic SSC Blue rims, which were da kine at that time.

This is a photo of an all Titanium Bianchi that another forum member posted to the Bike Forums some time ago. I don't remember who the poster was or what year this is, but it is a beautiful bike. I'd like to ride this one:

Thanks, I am rebuilding it somewhat old school mixed with new. I have 3t a hero bars (not a typo, A-Hero, not aero) I havent decided if I want to go with a spinergy rear wheel or a disc or tri spoke yet.
My shifters should be here next week along with my brake levers and bianchi body fit celeste saddle. I have the zipp 650 front wheel and am thinking of going with the celeste pro rubio tires. Running the shimano 600 groupo (I know its not the greatest... but!)
The bike is almost finished and I cant wait to get it out on a 20 mile ride. :D

Good thing about credit cards is they have a payment plan :D
Spend away Grampy, make the bianchi the sweetest thing on that century ride, so if you dont do well at least the bike will get lots of attention hehehe and you can say you were just pacing yourself as not to do any damage to the bianchi :D
