I am looking for a set of 700c tires 28-32c. What is the best tire you would recommend for $30 a piece?
Road conditions are poor in a few spots but overall it could be considered good to excellent. Distance ridden is about 25 miles each day. Rain is not much of an issue, but there are a few areas where sand can create a quasi-slick environment every once in a while.
I was originally looking at a set of Panaracer T-Serv's after reading some good reviews, but there is also a lot of mention of them being "soft" (does that mean they wear down quickly?) so I am not sure if that is the best way to go.

check out the Bontrager Hardcase tires in 32c, or the racelite hardcase in 28c.
I have both set's, the racelites are faster and pretty tuff. The 32c are better though if you are riding on alot of rough roads i have found out.
you might be able to get them for 32 bucks, my LBS had them at that price, although retail is 39.99 for them
The gatorskins are another choice, they again are around 40 bucks.
Just go to a good bike shop and see whats up, or a REI if you have one.

I run two gatorskins on my bike. I use it for racing and commuting. They are good tough tires that you won't flat on but are still good enough for racing (assuming you aren't doing things at like a pro level) cat 4/5 should be ok. They cost me 40 so that is 10 dollars more then your budget but I would think it's worth it.

The Vittoria Randonneur (http://biketiresdirect.com/productdetail.asp?p=VIRND) tires that came stock on my Bianchi Castro Valley have proven to be excellent commuting tires. Well over 1000 flat free commuting miles here in the San Fernando Valley and some light touring between Santa Barbara and Ventura.
They are 700x28mm, 85 psi max. and have a reflective stripe that I prefer.
Only $26.95 each at Bike Tires Direct.
Recently purchased a second pair just to have.
