Bicycle Mechanics - slime lite tube & aerospokes

I have Aerospoke rims, and I ordered slime lite tubes. The presta valve isn't long enough to be filled with air.

I tried the topeak valve extender, but it doesn't fit through the Aerospoke valve opening.

What are some options? Is the core removable on slime lites? Are there extenders for the core?

I always thought those slime tubes were crap....are they still around?

yeah...all the slime tubes really do is just delay the deflation. I would think that a high pressure road bike tube would negate the small advantage.

Slime tubes are garbage anyways. All it does it make a mess when you go to change out the flat.

As others have said, Slime road tubes are junk. Slime will only seal a leak at pressures below 70psi; so unless you ride your bike at pressures less then that...ie mtb tires, then forget it. In addition to the pressure problems they also have very poor quality presta valves.

Save yourself the headache and toss the Slime tubes and buy a normal tube from Michelin or Conti.

If flats are an issue for you then you need to stop them at the first line of defense-the tire. Specialized makes a couple of nearly flat proof tires, just find one that suits your needs. http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCEqSection.jsp?sid=EquipTires700_Flat

A Specialized tire combined with a ultralight 60grm tube is way lighter then trying to buy a conventional 210 gram tire plus a 120 gram Slime tube, or a 210 grm tire combined with a 90 grm tire liner with a 80grm tube (60grm ultralight tube is too thin to be used with a liner because the liner edge will eventually wear a hole in the tube), and still not be effective against flats as the Specialized Armadillo.
