Hi, I am pretty new to road cycling and I recently joined LGBRC. Their group rides are on the weekends, but I also want to find out if there are any group rides close to where I live (Cupertino) where I can improve my pack handling skills. Evening and mornings would be preferable. Thanks.

I thought LGBRC stood for Lesbian Gay Bisexual something or other until I just googled it :D

Im also a Los Gatos member, welcome. Its a great club. The sunday ride is best for the pack handling skills as its a bit slower and more relaxed. The during the week rides in your area are kinda fast and furious. I usually ride alone during the week, doing intervals and such, saturday I do the training ride. Getting faster makes the pack skills easier. Were you on the ride this past saturday?

Alright, yes I know who you are. Confidence will come. As I told ya then, I got dropped all the time last year. But keep trying and before ya know it you will be hanging on. Its easiest to give it yer all to hang on, the pace will ease. Drafting distance will get closer as you grow more comfortable with those you are riding with. Try the sunday ride too, more people usually show. Just keep going, itll get better. You did fine. We were pushing the pace a few times there. Your biggest thing is staying close enough to draft, 2ft is good enough. Also, try and relax, dont grip the bars real hard, dont tense up, just relax and pay attention and look ahead. I wont be there this weekend Ill be in Lake Tahoe, but u shoud show and do the ride.:thumb:
Western Wheelers has several rides during the weekday mornings. ACTC (Almaden Cycle Touring Club, I think) also has a lot of rides. Like you, I'm in Cupertino, which seems to be in between the starting points for WW and ACTC rides.
