Texas - Longer rides for non roadies in Austin

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Not to exclude anyone, but you don't have to be a Roadie for this ride.

If you are looking for a little longer ride in Austin, but maybe don't fit in with the typical Roadie scene, this might be for you. 30-40 miles, depending on who you ask, a bit faster paced than a cruise, but not a race by any means. You don't need a road bike, but you might regret running a fixie, BMX or the like as there are some decent climbs. Ride what you want and have though, someone completed the last one on a single speed Electra cruiser.

Anyway, Thursdays at 6ish PM meet on the Lamar pedestrian bridge and ride to Buda. Bring lights as it will get dark, plenty of H2O and whatever else you think you need (I recommend a snack). There are rest stops, it will take 3 to 4 hours including a decent rest in Buda.

I'm not organizing it, but will try to answer or find answers if anyone has questions. Hope to see you there, we had a blast at the first one.

Here is the posting for last thursday http://www.atxbs.com/?q=node/308 (http://www.atxbs.com/?q=node/308#comments)
