I am thinking of getting a Street BMX bike to play around on. I am 5'9" bout 170 lbs and want something that won't self destruct. I want full CroMo F & F between 24 & 27 lbs and prefer DB top and down tubes. Detangler not necessary as I'm too old to have the courage to let the bars go ;). Willing to invest $500 and up to 7 if choice represents a good value for what it is. Thinking a 20.75" or 20.8 TT as they seem to split the ground between 20.5 & 21. I know there are dozens of possible choices and have about 10 as follows, but don't know what makes one better than the next:
Free Agent Crown Imperial
Stolen Score
FBM Warlord
Verde Cadet
Integral Bel Air
WTP Four Season or Phoenix
Kink Apex
Haro Pro Lite
KHE Impact Pro (probably too much $)
Fit Flow Street
*** If I overlooked a viable choice please do tell :)

Apex seems to have a nice frame which is the heart of any bike. Why is there no brake on the Flow Street? Generally which brands have the best steel and construction for their frames? Also should I be concerned if it has a 10 or 48 spline crank? I think it might be easiest if you guys can tell me which brands are not worth considering from my list above. That will help to narrow things down.
Free Agent, KHE, Stolen, Haro, WTP.

Free Agent, KHE, Stolen, Haro, WTP. I'm doing my research. Whats' wrong with Stolens? I have been reading they are comparable to Knik's. WTP it apears are over rated.
I didn't mean to write Stolen sorry. I would reccomend getting the Stolen Cheater if you get a Stolen.

I would recommend getting the Stolen Cheater if you get a Stolen. Do you think it's worth an extra $100 over the Score? The Score seems specked nicely.

FIT Flow Street. straight up. No brake which I want. Nice clean looking bike though. If I go brakeless it will have to be much later in the game ;)

Just go with the score and spend the extra $100 on parts.

spend the extra $100 on parts. What parts would it need and would they not be probably upgraded on the Cheater?

Some stuff breaks and a lot of parts you can buy separate are better than stock parts.
The cheater just seems a lot better. I would get the apex though.

The cheater just seems a lot better. I would get the apex though. I definitely agree with both your statements. Since the plan is to get into this fresh at a late stage of my life I kinda want to try to get the most bang for my buck at the lowest price point that will give me full CroMo and Fully sealed. Then if I need to upgrade I can dump it and probably get a decent % toward a full on ride :).
