Mountain Biking - Race Results.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I did the "GSC #8 Georgia State Championship series " race today. I raced the Junior XC ages 15-18 class.
2 laps around a 7.3 mile long trail. It was a nice, smooth fast flowing xc trail. It was mostly hard pack with a little bit of sandy areas. Some good Climbs, that made you earn the decents. I kept my fork almost locked out. (I found this sweet spot where the fork only goes down so much and then it stops) It took care of the occasional root or small drop, but on the inclimbs and flats it allowed my to cruise!
Perfect day for a race, it got pretty hot, and it's even hotter now, but it was fun. I did the first GSC race and the last lol.
ok, to cut the small talk.
My competition was pretty good. They're were 4 of us. the other 3 actually race seriously, the one kid is supposely 1st place in the series for the class. They were all decked out with sponsors stuff. They had the Kenda Youth Racing team jerseys.
Anyway, I came in 3rd place.
The leader finished in 69 minutes, which was crusing. He was extreamly fast.
The second place came in at 70-something
I came in at 84 minutes.
the other racer who is also in the championship came in at 96 minutes.
I dont have any pictures though. My family didn't come and no friends wanted to. When the results are up, I'll post the link and my number.
When my camera charges I can take a pictures of my medal and like that to prove lol.
Well done dude. Keep training and racing but only as long as it's still fun.

Nicely done, Cheeto. Sounds like you had fun and that's the main thing, IMO.
Yea, I enjoyed myself.
The 1st place kid was just like "Yea, I was just having fun out there"
Pshh.
Im glad, If I was going to be here next season, I'd try to race the series.
Maybe I'll have to get into a series in germany...

Just keep checking e-bay and, once you get to Germany, the local bike ads, you'll get lucky.
For some reason Nicolai owners get bored real quick and sell their old ones so they can buy......another Nicolai
Anyhoo, that means there can be some amazing bargains if you're patient and don't mind a slightly used bike.
Yea, I really liked that frame. It's an XC race frame to!
any way, this was a great way to end the summer.... School starts tomorrow.
Rock on, dude!! Congratulations.
I just did our Sunflower State Games again this year...I've taken Gold in my class 3 years running now.
There's not much for competition though. Only one other dude in my class, lol...w00t, fr00t???
This years trail was 4-4.5miles and I raced the age 30-39 Sport class which was 3 laps. My time was about 48:59. The other guy came in at 63:08. I got stuck behind some silly local girl that cost me prob. 30sec/1min just b/c I wanted to be nice and let her go for a while...finally I had to pass her, so she got outta the way. (trail was mostly singletrack)
I thought I was going to suffer more than I did...I got to the last climb and still felt fine, so I knew that I had ridden a little conservatively. Oh well...I don't race enough to know what I got left in the tank sometimes:thumb:
The last two years has qualified me to race the 30-39 Sport Class in the State Games of America in 2009 at the Airforce Academy in Colorado.
Not sure if I'm gonna do it yet...we'll see.

What's "cat up"?
V., Cat. Up
1. To move up a category, often in reference to road bike racing
2. When Catman undergoes his feline transformation
"That sandbagging mofo better cat. up to 1 before I kill his punk ass."
It's a term that comes from road racing, where we have categories instead of this Beginner, Sport, Elite etc. nonsense. It goes Cat. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Pro (domestic or International/ProTour).
Your Fredish road-racing friend,

Ohhhh...gotchya!
Well...I'm sorta "anti-cat" or something. The only difference between Beg/Sport/Exp is 1 lap. I don't really feel like doing 4 laps. I firmly feel that the difference should be a more technical trail to boot.
Instead...the MTB race has been designed by freakin' roadies that think the only increase in difficulty is cardiovascular/endurance related. It should be a skill increase.
Shoot man...I may just race beginner next year, hahahaha!!!

The real question... did you break anything on your bike?

You had to ask? His frame snapped, so a new front hub is on order to fix it.

No, nothing broke at all!
I never did get my jump guard yet, so I raced with just the middle and large chainwheel.
It dropped once and jumped up once. But It was a really quick fix I just pulled to the side and I was off the bike before it even stopped, and I had the chain back on the ring by the time it had stopped lol.
I just didn't coast much, I tried to keep tension on the chain at all times, and, I also picked really really good lanes to avoid thrasing around lol.
yea we got almost 2 months for summer break... its gay.
It's not even a private or military school either.
Chel. DUDE GO TO THE USAFA!!!!!!!!!!!! MIDDLE OF THE COLORADO MOUNTAINS!!!!! DUDE GO< AND TAKE ME WITH YOU LOL!
I did some research yesterday, and the USAFA has a MTB team, and Mountain biking is accepted as a sport... so my worries are over (I dont play sports for the school, and the Academy almost fully requires a sport to get into it. All cadets [students] are required to do a sport while at the Academy, every year)
No, they didn't take picstures of me. I was told that the awards banquet was at 4:00. So I left with some of My SORBA friends to go help marshall the race (the uber pro people were racing now) and then I came back around 1:30, and they had already announced and awarded the winners.... I missed my chance to get on the podium because of their miscomunication!!!!
But I'll take a picture of the medal lol.

they also.... dont have me in ANY OF THE PICTURES. so I'm pretty mad about that.
Im kind of ticked at my mom for not comming to take pics like she normally did. so yea.
But hey I got the medal to prove it I guess. So when I get my camera (its in my room somewhere) Ill take a picture of it...
But hey, who needs all the fame anyway right? It's the silent ones behind the scenes you have to watch for.

I never did get my jump guard yet, so I raced with just the middle and large chainwheel . . . .- - and you got third mashin' the big gears. Way to go, Cheeto! Glad your race went well and you're having some fun to boot.
