Road Cycling - Cervelo buying time!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

After much hard saving and work in the corn fields, I am in a position to buy a Cervelo Soloist 105.
I have test rode the bike and it is FAST! I have not tested any other bike, yet I am not wanting to test any others. When I rode the cervelo, it was a 61cm when i should be riding a 58/56cm. It was instantly comfortable, just a bit much reach and h/bar width. I could put the juice on and I could feel no movement or flex at all, just gutsy acceleration. The gear shifts and everything were just B E A UTIFUL along with everything else.
The bike has what I want - Aerodynamics for competitive Time Trialling, its comfortable and no flex in the frame. When I rode the bike I didn't have to concentrate on handling at all, it just seemed to flow naturally and go where I wanted it to.
Should I test any other bikes? That is the question. I have heard from people that have ridden Cervelo bikes that the thing climbs and descends like a demon, as though on rails.
Thoughts anyone? http://www.cervelo.com/bikes/SL105.html

Hmmmm...bump!
I have the money now. So I am in a position to buy on Saturday. Should I with or without trying the other bikes?

Sounds like you made your decision....a friend of mine who lives in Christ Church bought a bike (name escapes me now) that was a New Zealand make and he loves it. Per him, it was very high end (on a par with the one you are considering)...FWIW

Felt is also canadian I beleive? I really like felt as well, but there is no NZ distributor. Have they got the aero frame like the Cervelo though? that is a big buying pro for me. Roadwarrior, was this bike an Avanti?

The retail is around $3000 NZD? (105 groupo) but the shop I am getting it from had it retailing at $2790NZD and I'm getting it for $2700. I will put my wellgo pedals on (yick) but I am buying some 105 pedals (look style) ASAP, along with some aerobars.

Cervelos are so sexy.... i especially love their time trial stuff.
NZCylclist: I think you ride fast enough to be able to enjoy the benefits of the aero frame.... go for it!!

You dont ride with the seat that high do you?

That Cervelo is a "compact" frame, hence why you see a lot of seat post hanging out.

Ahh thats right...was thinking that myself last night. I have a 79cm seat height, from the BB.
btw, its called SEMI-compact for some odd reason :p perhaps its not as sloping as a true compact frame? hehe
will post ride reports at the end of the week, I am busy with school and riding my baby
