320lb newbie rider! Bought used Giant Sedona on Thursday. Rides good! But, I here rear tire rubbing on brake pad? Does it when I am walking it too. I cleaned rims when I bought it. Think pads are sitting too close to rim when riding? Thanks.

Is it rubbing the tire or the rim?

Is the rim straight?

Sounds like the wheel is out of true, see http://www.sheldonbrown.com/tooltips/truing.html for details. Riding on that grade of wheel at that weight means you'll need to get decently aquainted with the truing process or be willing to pay to get it done by a good bike shop. I'm cheap and not the best at it, so in the beginning I was retruing a lot, but sheldon's page is quite helpful.

Treu the wheel? Well not if it's the tire rubbing like the OP states. But he doesn't respond to Tom's Q so we don't know yet!

Could be that he hit the caliper while cleaning the rims. Might need to tighten and adjust the caliper back into place. Could be that the brake shoes aren't aligned properly, too high compared to the brake surface causing tire rub. Could be the true, depends but won't know till the guy answers the Q!:D
