Anyone here have any experience with the Lemond Arrivee ti bike? The dealer says it lists for 3k and that he will sell it to me for $2,200. I kind of had a thing for the Merlins what with all the detail and quality they come with but alas, I don't think I will be able to come up with the scratch (and stay married too). The Lemond is so much cheaper but I wonder if the bike is any good (the relatively low price seems too good to be true). One other question, where can I get retail prices on various bikes and how much they weigh. The Lemond dealer I am talking to seems to come up with numbers off the top of his head and I think they are a bit heavier than what he says (for example, he said the Lemond Zurich weighs 16 lbs.). Thanks muchly!

$2200 is a low price? Can I borrow twenty grand? Most likely it's a great bike. The question you want to ask is this...is it the right bike for me?
1)Does it fit?
2)Does it meet my standards for performance?
3)Do I want to bring it home?

.....So, what did you think when you gave it a test ride?

Late-- good points for sure. The thing is that the LBS does not have one in stock so that is why I am asking others if they have any experience with it. I am looking at it as well as the Lemond Zurich and the Cannondale R2000. Hope to get a bike that will travel distances fairly comfortably and climb as well.

Ahh,
you could call around and see if there was a dealer within a couple hundred miles that had one you could try. CHeck and see if the geometry isn't the same as one of the other models. That happens a lot. You could test ride the other one for fit.

Zurich is not that light...and the price for ehte Arivee seems about right. I was at a LBS in CT and they had an Arivee (unless I'm thinking of another model, for $2,100. It was a Ti bike.
