Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - bike computer

I have/had a Specialized Turbo Elite (wireless) bike computer. The other day during a ride it feel off and broke the screen. I was thinking of replacing it with the same model so I don't have change any sensors. The simple fix would be to find a used Turbo Elite. I can't find any of the Turbo Elites but there are Turbo 2 versions. Does anyone know if the turbo 2 will work with the Turbo Elite sensor?

Or should I look at an entirely different setup?

I'm curious to know the answer to this too, hopefully an engineer will chime in soon. A while back I got a bike that came with the sensor mounted but no computer. I never stuck the button to anything but I assumed it's a magnet and the sensor is just a coil that just reacts as the magnet passes through its electromagnetic field. Fastforward to the end of july and I got a cheap-O schwinn cycle computer that I set up on my main bike. I was thinking about mounting that extra sensor on a different bike with the same wheel size and swapping the computer back & forth as long as the contacts match up.

If you don;t find someone here who can say, it might be worth it to try contacting Specialized.

I did call Specialized and was told if the computers were the same year. Unfortunately, I bought the bike with the computer so I don't know the year of the computer. He did say the cost for the computer is the bulk of the cost for a computer so there would be no benefit from buying just the computer and not the other parts. So I guess I am free to buy whatever computer I want.

yeah i kind of went through the same thing with cateye with price on separate parts. the additional bike kit for my micro wireless is around $30, but the whole micro wireless kit from my LBS is $35. So i just save the shipping and end up spending less. i'm not sure the computer is the most expensive part as much as it is that they charge a lot more when buying the parts separate, the computer itself is more money but from what i've seen it isn't much more than the rest when you buy it separate but then again it seems to still only be about $5 more to get everything new.

Any recommendations on a computer?

the cateye micro wireless has treated me really well, had it for a few years and i actually have 3 of them. one for each bike that i care to record my data on, not because i've had problems with any of them.
it kind of depends on what features you're looking for and how much you'd like to spend. i kknow cateye and a couple others make ones with HRM's built in, others have Cadence. What features are you looking for?

For sure the basics speed, time, distance, avg speed.
Candene is probably low on my priority list.
A HRM sounds neat, hadn't given that any thought.
I saw one yesterday that did temp, and something I like was altitude and incline %, is that getting too fredish. Not sure I want to put that much money in it, may save the extra for a garmin someday:(

I haven't heard great things about cheap wireless computers. The reports are worrying enough that I haven't purchased one, anyway. I do line my Cateye Strada Cadence, however. They're around $35 on sale. I have one on each of my bikes. For heart rate, I use a basic Polar HRM that's separate from the computer.

This is what I used to do, but bought the Forerunner 305, for helping me with my running also.

The sensor is just a reed switch that gets closed when the magnet passes by. No induction or anything like that.

Would that sensor work with other computers?
I'm leaning towards a wireless, more for looks then anything, but this wired computer caught my eye. What do you think?

Not a wireless, since there is nothing to transmit a signal to the computer head.
I don't know if the connector would fit other wired computers.
