Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Yesterday, I drove downtown and took off on my bike. I got back to my car and there was a homeless guy that had broken my passenger side window and was hanging inside my car going through my things. I came up behind him and kicked him right in the a$$ inside my car. To further say, we were then into a fight and he finally started to run off, but he was limping! I guess those carnac, hard road shoes came in handy!!!

I would have personally done the exact same thing as these bums can't compensate you for damaged property. Calling the cops would have been a waste of your tax dollars. I had a similar incident where this guy intentionally shattered my shop's storefront window.

How right you are about that!!! That's why I didn't even bother to call the cops. They probably already knew him by heart. He would have gotten what, a day in jail at the most and then I would have had to bother with all the crap of a police report. If I wouldn't have had my cleated shoes on, I would have run after him and gotten a few more punches in!!!
A bum tried to steal my wifes sandwich as she was eating it once, she kicked his ass.

I probably would have done that 20 years ago.... But I am Mr. Nice Guy, no more. Over the years, I've learned the only way to sometimes deal with these problems is by using physical force. That always works and you never see them again... I'm only looking for swift, practical solutions. Thanks!

Re: Feeding the Homeless
I drove up to a stop light several months ago and a homeless guy had a sign asking for food only. I rolled my window down and asked him what he wanted. He said a hamburger and fries. I went to Wendy's and got him a plain, double burger combo. I took it back to him and his reply was "I wanted a burger with lettuce, tomato, onions, and ketchup." He is like refusing to take the food. I just threw the whole thing, drink and food at him and took off!
After that and yesterday's episode, I am totally changed about homeless!!!

Why? What has he done to earn food or employment from me? I work hard for my money (well I would if I wasn't a studant), why should I give it to someone else just because he's too lazy or stupid or whatever to earn it himself (I realise not all homeless people are lazy or stupid, but most could get off the streets if they just tried a little). Call me shallow if you will, but I don't believe in charity (unless it's for those that truly earned it, like war vets).

Being somebody who deals with the homeless on a DAILY basis...I can assure you that by kicking him in the ass is only going to make him go get his friends and come back for more. Would I have taken care of it the same way? Nope, I would have yanked him out...taken care of buiness then cuffed and stuffed him. Off to the pokey he would have gone to get his hot and cott and hopefully those misd. points will have pushed him into Felony/state time.

And maybe some help.Sometimes lifes a b$tch and rather some of you belive it or not, your about an inch of joining him. We all are. You are clueless how he got to that point. Its easy to judge and easier to missjudge. Directing him to a shelter or church would have been better but you had to do what tough guy thing you did. Now its over and you have to live with it.

So let me get this straight, You are saying this "poor" guy needs some money and food, and we should give it to him, you are also saying its OKAY for him to break into our cars, violate our lives and not have to pay any price for his laziness and CRIMES??? I think thats what i have been reading what you say...
First of all, Dont stand there and talk about God and turn right around and Justify this guys breaking the law..
Another thing, If we were to give this BUM Money he would probably buy drugs (another felony)
You say we are all heading to his point. I dont think so, some of us work for a living, we dont take things for granted and we definately dont steal or beg from our fellow man...
I tell you what, You are so concerned about this guy, why dont you contact the poster and I am sure he will gladly tell you where to find this low life theif so he can move in with you, steal your money, get your kids hooked on drugs, and much more than I would rather say...
Im sorry shokhead, w all choose our own lives, we can do for ourselves, or we can depend on others to take care of us. I choose to take care of myself and my family, I lend a hand to my fellow man, but definately not when I catch him breaking into my car, stealing my belongings, or hurting my family. grrrrrrr bleeding hearts

I was gonna say that, but I was so frustrated with this guy... I understand some people are down on their luck, but its not the worlds respncibility to bring him back up, he says take him to a church or whatever, this BUM was ripping another guy off, That tells me he has a mind of his own, he can get the help he needs ONLY if he WANTS it, all he has to do is walk to the church or shelter, he can walk and take a job at McD's or carwash, beggers cant be choosey. And then he has the nerve to justuify the bums actions, and not the cyclist to protect his own property from theft... Grrrrrr I hate when these people stand up for low life losers, will he still justify this guys actions when one of his family members get hurt or killed by this bum?? will he drive him to the church or shelter, or take him to look for a job then??? I think not... too bad the bum isnt in Pasco County you could arrest him and drive him to a place where he will get his hots and cots and probably an education LOL

I haven't met one bleeding heart liberal that will take the actions that he he/she preaches that others should take when talking about issues like the one above. So all I do is ignore them and let them go about their whinning ways. Instead of sitting behind their computer and preaching the "word", they need to be pro active and pick these vagrants up off the street and take care of them. Otherwise I will gladly pick them up and take them to a different shelter. The shelter that the tax payers of my county say they deserve to be in. :D

Have you seen him before? He hangs out on that corner with his little sign begging for change, he has been there for over two years, he could have already had a job by now if he would just get out and look, I run him out of our park every now and then for trespassing.

...If you know his and his buddies exact little sleeping area and know that he will be in that area begging and being a issue. Call non emergency dispatch and ask for a Dep to stop by. More than likely, not only will I be familiar with who he is, I will know him by name.

Thats it? We have had guys that make 80K a year at their regular j-o-b and do this begging bit on the side. One use to park his new black mercedes behind a bunch of small trees next to a bank.

Two words: tax free
Back to something resembling the original topic, I always commuted with steel toe shoes, a sharp wrap on the car merging into you goes a long way.

There is one guy here in Nashville that sits and sings songs right in the tourist trap area. He was interviewed by one of the local reporters and she estimated that he pulls in $60,000 a year, and probably tax-free! I don't call that bad at all. He sits down there 4 - 5 hours everyday.
Hmmm, I wonder what the IRS would think if they had seen that report????

We have a guy like that at Ohio State. All the freshman think he is awesome and give them their money. He is actually a pretty good artist. He probably makes more doing this than he could anywhere else.
Also, there are actually some bums who don't beg and don't cause problems. Some of them actually want to be bums. There is a bum in Toledo, OH that has a family she regularly sees. Apparently they have offered to take her in but she has refused. She was a teacher at one time and is very well spoken. Her child died and she took to the streets. She is also an avid biker.
Just trying to say there are some decent bums. Still, if ANYONE was breaking into my car or stealing my things I would kick the **** out of them.
