My 199? Bianchi has the classic Shimano 105 non-STI brakelevers with white brake hoods. I'd really like to find a pair of black brake hoods but a quick search online only turns up newer STI stuff. Any advice?

Both Performance Bike and BikeNashbar sell the classic Shimano Aero brake levers that have black hoods. They're $49.99 for a pair and that includes new cables and cable housing.

I suppose I'm not going to have much luck finding just the hoods? I've seen a pair of you guessed it, white ones on ebay.

I'm not a huge stickler for the name, is there any compatible 3rd party brands I might check out?

Thanks!

Jeff, I installed new Shimano brake levers a year ago. If you are interested, email your mailing address to me and I'll send you the Shimano brake levers that I removed. They have black hoods and are exactly like the ones I installed. I was completely restoring an older Italian bike and I wanted everything new and shiny. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the older ones I removed. If you want them, they're yours.

Aero non-sti hoods are out there, in black or white. One of the handy things about a (good) bike shop is you go in and ask for an older and/or unusual part and then they do all the leg work.

In a pinch you could use Diacompe aero hoods but the shape of the mount where the lever comes out is different.
