I went over the 20 mile mark ! Not quite as impressive as Miss B's 50 miler but I'm getting there. I started off riding this morning , on my Schwinn Voyageur 7 (a comfort bike)and I rode my normal route (10.58 miles according to my bike computer) in 3rd gear as a single speed , just for the training . At 7 miles where I usually stop for about a minute and have a drink of water , I found out I had left my water bottle at home . Back on the bike and headed home. total time 59.05 for a 10.75mph average . When I got home and had a good drink of water and about a five minute rest ; I took out on my Schwinn Criss Cross with my water bottle . I decided to do the same route with this bike and compare with the V7 but, use the gearing . I had no problems finishing the second lap and when I got back , using my cell phone to time myself , I had completed the second lap in 50 minutes . I'm not sure what the average speed would be( a little over 12mph, I believe) , but it has to be better , with 9 minutes less time . Totals 21.16 miles in 1 hour 49.05 minutes. I'll be going for 25 before the end of the week .My next goal is to do 25 in less than 2 hours . kirby

You are awesome! It's exciting to ride the same route and go faster or even go at the same pace but feel better! Great job!

Well Done!! :thumb:
I dare to say that few if any of us are Cat 4 or better racers. :ride:
It is always inspiring to hear that someone has completed a personal best. Keep up the enthusiasm and the hard work. Soon you will be riding a half metric century !!! :giver:

Keep telling us about successes.
The world is filled with negatives, which is why I like the 50+ and the Clydes/Athenas forums - both are pretty darn positive.

Thanks for the encouragement . I fit both the 50+ and the Clyde categories(57 yrs and 215 lbs, down from 240+). I really enjoy my morning rides before the heat sets in. I feel better than I have in years . I'll do a short ride tomorrow , and try for the 25 on Thursday . kirby

Another goal met!! 25.5 miles this morning . 2 hours-20 minutes; avg 10.9mph ; max 30.5 mph ( nice hill , but 6-7 mph going the other way LOL) . I rode my Schwinn CrossCut ; I'd forgotten how nice this bike rides. Only a couple of short 1-2 minute stops for rear-end and leg rest and water, although I do drink while riding. I dropped my water bottle this morning , putting it back into the cage and had to turn around and go back . I'll be glad when the weather starts cooling off a little ; I think that would help. I need to find a group ride, now that I know I can make it , even if I'm last . BTW , I weighed when I got back too, 213.8 I can see the light!!! kirby

Yeah, definitely hook up with a group. You'll grow as a cyclist a lot faster, both in the endurance AND skills dept. Look for a club in your area. See if the fit your wants. :D
