Northeast - Bicycle rentals in NYC

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I'm leaving to NYC (Manhattan) tomorrow and I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a nice place to rent bicycles from. Google has returned a list of a couple places but I'd feel more comfortable with a personal recommendation.

Okay.
I assume you are going to ride into Manhattan on a train.*
from New Yorks' Pennsylvania Station go west on 34th Street.
Before you get to the Hudson River, you will see a bikeway ( The Manhattan Waterfront Greenway).
Go right on the bikeway. There is a bicycle rental on one of the piers.

If you are arriving at JFK International Airport, get of the JFK airtrain. Go to Jamaica on the Airtrain (a wonderful half monorail/ half light rail automated people mover).
At Jamaica Station, take a Long Island railroad train west to NY Penn.

My friend rented a road bike from NYC Velo on Second Avenue and 3rd Street for an organized century. He was quite happy with the who experience. He took the bike for two nights and one day for $65. It was an all-carbon Giant. They included a brief fitting, and did not give him any grief.
I have never rented from them, but I have bought two bikes from them, and they are a quality shop.

Bike & Roll rents out bikes on the Greenway. Pretty sure they're on the interwebs. They have Trek 1000's and lots of hybrids.

Master Bike on 77th and Broadway - my home shop, it's small, very very small. I'm not sure if Bicycle Renaissance rents bikes, but they are in the same area, think it's 80th and Columbus Ave. Both are very close to Central Park and Riverside Park (Hudson Pathway). Believe Toga is also in the area in the 60s on west end ave.
