Well, I pondered where to post this.... so if this is not the right place - please feel free to (kindly) set me straight. I considered the following locations: women's, commuting, PNW (here), and clydes/athena's. I'm hoping this was a good choice.

I would like to commute from Auburn (downtown) to Kent (downtown) via the Interurban trail as far as I can. (North in the morning, south in the evening.) The remainder of the commute would be on the least-busy streets possible. I plan on riding at least 3 days per week, working up to more if I can figure out how to manage all my work-crap. I'm a middle school teacher and will practice my ride several times before school starts again.

So... is there anyone that currently rides this route who is interested in accompanying me? I am not very speedy (yet), I am not in very good shape (yet), and I fit the bill for appearing to be a 'Female Fred' (not likely to improve). I have wanted to do this for over a year now and I'm ready to take the plunge. It would be nice to have a riding partner, but I would go it alone too... I'm determined and committed so I won't let you down. :)

Feel free to PM me if you are interested or up for the challenge or know someone who might be.

P.S. I'm not really a social butterfly or chatterbox, so anticipate a quiet commute. :o I do have a pretty good sense of humor, though, which is necessary for surviving middle school students!

I take the sounder train to Seattle, but often ride up the trail to Kent, Tukwila or even the full 25 miles into downtown. This time of year it's easy to make friends. Come winter time, it's dark, cold and lonely out there. I'm the guy riding a black Kona Dew with bright red deep V rims with a front generator hub.

I'm fairly certain that's the only bike of its kind in the greater Kent valley area.

Smurf Hunter, I'll keep my eye out for you on the days that you are motivated to ride the whole way in to Seattle (YIKES!). Sounds like your bike is recognizable. I'm the non-elegant, unfashionable female on the dreamsicle ('05 Sarthe - love it!), most likely commuting alone at this rate. :(

My other road bike is a green steel LeMond. I'm actually riding that a bit more often recently, since the weather is nice. If you get the legs, that Sarthe can carry you forever...
