Fifty Plus (50+) - Promotion for me in club Tombay

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I considered myself a junior member of club Tombay as I only fell all the way over once and it was while I was setting still and clipping in when I first went to clipless pedals. This morning on the way to work I was thinking about the track standing thread a couple of days ago and thought I should practice my track stands. I was in the bike lane on a pretty busy 4 lane road and got stopped at a light. I unclipped my right foot and was looking down at the ground trying to roll back off of a slight lip in the concrete. I looked up and realized I was leaning to the left. I stuck out my right leg to catch my balance and it almost worked. I continued falling over very slowly right into the traffic lane in front of the cars stopped at the light. I put out my left hand and slowed my fall as I crashed to the road about 4 feet in front of a pickup truck. I looked up at the light and naturally it turned green. My left foot was still in the pedal under the bike and the truck couldn't go because I was laying in the road in front of him. I crab crawled back into the bike lane with my foot still clipped in. The only damage was to my pride and I was quickly back on my way to work. From now on I am going to track stand at home until I get better at it. I no longer consider myself a junior member of club Tombay.

Trying that on a busy road in traffic??? You would have been killed if the truck driver didn't see you.

Classic, but still leaving room for improvement.
A a senior member of the club, you can take pride in such fine falls and extract yourself from them with dignity and only at your leisure.
Unless, of course, that truck begins to inch forward. <G>

I think the crab crawl was a really nice touch. Well done.
Oh the joys of being in a club, especially one so glorious as tombay...share the glory...
Excellent job!
The only thing that could be improved on, was if the driver of the truck was a co-worker.:o
