Hi everyone,
We are proud to announce that the Kalkhoff range of electric bikes is now available in the USA. We can ship direct within 7-10 working days. The range is available on www.50cycles.com , and they have taken the UK by storm so far, with the Pro Connect weighing in at just 20.8kg including battery. The Panasonic units have a 2 year guarantee on motor and battery, and these bikes can climb hills up to 1:3 !! A video of this bike climbing the infamous Alpe d'Huez mountain pass used in the Tour de France is on youtube.

I doubt if it would work here, a very hilly town. It only has a 250 watt motor and 500 watt is the smallest I would put on a bike in this port town (even inline). It has an inline motor so when you shift to low, the motor is in low also, a gain in efficiency over hub motors. It has one of those sensor things. My sensor is fed and cared for and I even wear a helmet to protect it, why would I want another one on my bike? I have only tried a couple of bikes with sensors but the sensor can never see that hill coming up or realize that I don't need any help on the flat. Give me a throttle option and it would be better. This bike looks like a bike, a huge improvement over the junk bike frames that ebike manufacturers seem to use and it has a rear rack. I have no use for electric bikes that can't carry anything but a rider, it must be able to get groceries at least. I would love to try on and I will keep my eyes open locally.

For 3000+ USD I think I coulb build a whale of an e-bike?

damn that's cheap. LOL.

seriously though, it's a nice looking bike...but.. it's 250w motor with a 24v lithium battery... for 3000 dollars. if you replace your car that gets 25mpg and you buy gas at $5/gallon... you would technically have to drive the bike 15,000 miles until you break even. The lithium battery pack would die out before you break even. :(
