It's that time again. Post your progress for encouragement, inspiration or ridicule ;)

199, down from 205 since Jan 5. I lost a little momentum on Superbowl Sunday. I celebrated the official "Man Holiday" with a few-plus beers, pizza and chips. It was a great game though...

I'm still going in the right direction just not as fast as at first. -5 total for me. I'll start the graveyard shift friday, I usually eat less on that shift if I'm cutting back or not so should be able to get back on track. The day shift is toughest for me...

I forgot to weigh this morning before I left for work. I am almost afraid to...I was on a little vacation to see friends all last week, and I wasn't very good to my "diet"

vacations always do that to me.

Maybe I should walk home before I weigh this evening...LOL

Maintaining @ 295. At least I haven't gained any. Hopefully @ the next weigh in I will have lost some more.

Up about a pound this week. I was out of town last week with work and the client kept taking me out for lunch at shockingly unhealthy places, so I'm not at all surprised. Back on a healthier diet this week, hopefully with a bit more exercise too.

Overall still in the right direction.

250.5. Kind of stuck at this point but still down over 10 since I started in late December. It's getting to be a bit nicer out so maybe I'll get more cycling in.

Yup, you are no doubt correct; however, The National Heart/Lung and Blood Institute says you can go down to 125 and still be classified as "normal weight" given their BMI. They also state that if you gain 11 pounds (169), you should be classified as overweight. It's just plain silly. Check it out here:

Anywho, sorry to hijack the thread - move on ... nothing to see here. :)

That's cool bac, I start a long run of the graveyard shift on friday and sometimes it's a little slow, I need all the article links I can find :)

From the The National Heart/Lung and Blood Institute website: BMI test limits: It may overestimate body fat in athletes and others who have a muscular build.

Every other BMI test I have taken puts me between 13 and 15% - The nhlabi site puts me at 21%. If you at all athletic, don't go by there calculations.

That said, I had gained 6 lbs in dec, and got upto 188 lbs. As of today, I am back down to 182 lbs, and would like to cut off another 2 - 3 lbs in feb.

I've only tracked my weight since Jan 3 and I've weighed in fairly consistently in the morning. I've gone from 141# on Jan 3 to 134.2# today.

This is all mainly from spinning class twice a week, riding to work nearly everyday, some weights on my upper body, trying to eat smaller portions of healthier foods and drinking lots of water throughout the day.

Up a little to 221.6. Haven't been getting as much cardio lately, as work is taking up time, and this cold is killing my breathing. I have been lifting consistantly 3 times a week, so it could be muscle mass.

As for body fat, I no longer trust my Tanita scale, it varies as much as 3% in 24 hours, so I'm getting a Body Pod done at the local Uni this weekend, shoudl give me a better idea where I stand.

Also looking into my diet a little bit closer, think I'm actually not getting enough calories, so I might be close to, or in, starvation mode.

No matter what, I'm in it for the long haul. Just need to tweak, and then press on.

I finally got in a good ride today. We rode a new mtn bike trail that I've been wanting to ride for a couple years, it was excellent. It was terribly cold and snowing, but still a good ride. I don't know how you northerner's can stand it, here it was just down to about 28-30 degrees and I still just about froze my tata's off! A 25 mile ride back in the Jeep with the heater running full blast and I was still shaking when I got home...

.

Let us know how the body pod goes. I'd be curious as to how much difference there is between that and the scale.

I don't put much stock in mine but I do like to see the numbers go down. I'm reasonable sure I'm less than it says I am based on increased vasuclarity and I think I even saw more than one ab ;)

At this rate you'll be there by March! Good job! What has been working so well for you? Riding, diet, weights, contestant on Survivor?

Well I am a newbie to the site but will share my story. I max out a 450 thats right 450 tierd of being fat I decided it was time to make a change in my life now almost a year later i am down to 290 and still dropping about 2-4lbs a week. All this done with a diet I sort of created/working out no diet pills or any thing like that. I am now doing spin three times a week and riding on road as often as possible. I am glad to once again be part of cycling and am training for my first Century coming up in June. Hope to be down to atleast 250 by June.

Good Luck to every one else with there weight loss!

FANTASTIC Toyota_4Runner! Very inspiring! Your real name isn't Jared is it?
:p

Keep up the good work and check in with your progress every two weeks. The next check in is the 17th. I've found that a little competition and accountability has helped me stay on track. I'll eat a little less and work out a little more knowing that I want to post a lower number each weigh in. Knowing there are others in the same boat makes it more enjoyable.

In October, I was 185 lbs (6') and thinking of getting back into cycling after 13 years off the bike.

Then I discovered my wife of 10 years was having an affair.

After 2 months of agonizing over that and not eating, I decided I needed a diversion. Something physical. So I bought a Trek 5500. But with the lousy weather we have in Portland, I needed something I could ride NOW. So I went and got a Lemond Poprad as well and spent a huge amount of time and effort dialing both of them in.

Now, I am 162 lbs and spend every free second thinking about cycling and nutrition.

I wouldn't recommend this method to anybody, but now that the worst is over, I am getting stronger both physically and mentally. And yes, we are "working" on the marriage.
