Cyclingnews article on Ricco naming his supplier. The best quote:
"I have not paid, naturally," said Riccò. "Santuccione assured me you could not be found positive. So I did not give him the money."

He did have a point, though, when stating that all of his tests from the Tour should have come back positive, and not just the few that got him caught.

The tests are designed to be biased towards having a lot of false negatives. This helps to reduce the likelihood of everyone crying about false positives (especially when it involves American cyclists). Like the old EPO test, required over 80% on the value tested to come back positive, even though anything over 30% is very unnatural and doubtful to have occurred without doping.

while I agree that false positives suck, especially when everything gets leaked; it seems that this method favors doping, just not too much.

While Ricco might not be warm and fuzzy, he's done exactly what everybody says they want: come clean and name names. He didn't deny, start an "I believe The Cobra" fund to swindle little old ladies out of their savings, or any of that other BS. And I'd lay odds that he's telling the truth about not using at the Giro if he's saying his Tour samples should all be dirty.
I wouldn't have paid the guy either. The real piles are guys like Santuccione and Fuentes who set up these for profit doping enterprises. I don't have a problem with him stiffing his dealer and ratting him out. He sold him some bad shhhhhhhh.

Why because he ratted out his supplier? I good on Ricco, until the supply line is dismantled this will never end.

Rock Racing is the vaccuum of cycling teams, picking up all the trash after they've served the two years restrictions. Though, with Ricco's age (young!), Rock Racing may be a contender WHEN they pick up Ricco (it's not if, it's WHEN).
Besides - just think: Ricco + Michael Ball at a press conference.

He's a punk that why. His comments and his way of dealing with stuff is like an 8 year old kid. He got caught, otherwise he wouldnt be saying anything but how great he is and how bad his team is. Yes I hate ratting, admit ya did it and move on. Not paying his dealer is up to him and I could careless about that. But to think there are not more dealer/doctors out there making the same claims is just not realistic. Its no different then other drugs, bust one dealer and 2 more appear in his place.
The sport will only clean up when the riders believe they cant get away with it. Until then some will get caught and some wont.

While I appreciate that Ricco is talking now, yeah, he seems a little too flippant about things. I'm not asking him to self-flagellate, but a little contrition would be nice.

I agree that he's a punk and I've never thought he had much class, but I have no problems with him outing his dealer. I wish all the busted riders would. As for cleaning up the sport until all the parties, riders, dealers DS's et al are outed it will never be clean.

Mind you I'm pretty certain his ratting out his dealer had more to do with revenge and getting the best deal he could get out of the federation.

+1. Right now, he just wants to get the charges dropped or lessened to the point that all he has to do is pay a fine and take a suspension so that he can come back in two years. If that means narcing out his supplier and as a result bringing other cyclists down with him, so be it.

:roflmao2: I knew someone was gonna have some Ryobi stuff.
I've had cheap power tools in the past, and they always seem to go the same way: they work well enough to get the job done, but aren't particularly easy to use/accurate/powerful/safe/whatever while you're doing it. Then they last long enough that they don't really need to be replaced, so you never go buy the Porter Cable you should have ponied up for in the first place.
I had this f-ing Skill circular saw that I bought for $50 at Sears as my first "I live on my own now" saw, and I was stuck with the damned thing for 15 years before I finally just said screw it and bought the $200 PC saw, left handed. The PC is so much easier to use.
So, nothing too wrong with the Ryobi cordless, but it won't ever give you that feeling "down there" like a PC will ;) I have a little 12v PC that I was able to build an entire 10'x8' deck with (square-drive stainless screws) on a Habitat for Humanity house -- with only one battery charge.
This reminds me, I need to rebuild those batteries now -- they're 7 years old. Too many charge cycles.
Wait, what were we talking about again?

Sooo off-topic but - I'm a big yellow fan [yeah, yeah - overpriced, but so is my carbon frame]. I'm waiting for a good sale at Rona/Home Depot/Lowe's to score a hammer drill and bit driver combo... 18V - 2hr charge... yum...
Oh - and Ricco - better him narcing than just putting his fingers in his ears... I hope some more names come out so the peleton just gets flushed... and maybe, we'll see some cleaner racing.

Hasn't your lawyer taught you anything? Deny everything and say nothing until you have your lawyer at your side even though you know you are at fault. The press and police will gobble anything and twist everything you say and its better to shut up and let your lawyer do all the talking.

I disagree on Porter Cable for all power tools. If you are considering an array of the usual tool sets within North America, you'd best be off with a mix. Porter Cable for a router (or Bosch), Milwaukee for the sander, RIGID or Milwaukee for the drill, and so on.
BUT, if you are able to - and willing to - go beyond the 'usual standard' of North American availabilities, the Festool range is tops all around. Their only weak point is the drill, at which point I'd go with a Fein instead (RIGID, however, is just a rebadged Fein for the North American market).
Festool, ftw.

Initially I though that too, but it's public that they are going to retest the Giro samples, he's already busted, and another lie isn't going to help things.
Santuccione probably stashed all his files somewhere and is getting a lot of anonymous donations for his upcoming legal troubles.
Anything Snap-On gives me the tinglies all over BTW.

Yeah, I've got a lot of different brands, but my biscuit joiner, sanders, cordless drill, 12" compound miter saw, and circular saw are all PC. It's just a great balance between cost and performance. I've used and really do like the Fein and Festool stuff (at woodworking shows). It's just the coin.
My planer is Delta, dust collector is PSI... craftsman compressor, old Craftsman table saw, Campbell Hausfeld welder... so there are lots of brands running around. I don't have any yellow tools though... nothing wrong with them, but I figure I've gone this far without them...
Snap-On, yeah nice stuff. I remember a Snap-On tool cabinet where you could stand in a drawer and it would still roll if pushed. Amazing. I'm lacking in mechanics tools these days. I don't mess with cars much any more. I kind of hope I can build jeeps or something with the kids one day though.

^^^What's sad is my Dad was an Air Conditioning mechanic whose weapons of choice were PC, Milwaukee and Bosch. When he passed away, and my mom "sold" his share of the company, all those great tools went with it. Including a snap on tool cart like that described above.
FWIW, the Ryobi set said mother purchased me for Christmas last year is far better than the old Black & Decker crap I bought when I first got married was. The circular saw is, well, it is what it is. The drill works pretty well, though.
Oh, and the tool I most love for pure destruction: a Makita Sawzall. I cut many holes in an industrial roof with one many summers ago, cementing in my mind that life as a social scientists was far better than life as an AC mechanic, a lesson my dad was trying to drive home.
I guess it's okay to hijack my own thread with the OT stuff?
