Hi All
Where I work about 5 of us are trying to lose weight. So we put $5 into a pot to start. Then $3 a week after that. Then you weigh in and give yourself a realistic goal for May 1st. If you don't lose any weight your fined $1 if you gain weight thats $5 a pound (a steep penalty for cheaters) By MAy the pot will be over $400. We figure that will give us insentive!! Anyone who reaches there goal splits the pot! I'm down 3.5 the first week. That scares me because I don't have a lot to lose It's going to really hard for me,but I like the competition hopefully it will keep me going!!
P.S I wont' need a lighter bike if I can get ten pounds off my derrier :D
Later
Robin :D

Its good to have motivation. I've seen some of my fellow employees lose weight, and even better start healthy life habits, in some of the weight challenges we have had here where money is on the line.

The only thing you might have a problem with is that you are measuring total weight loss, and this doesn't take into account any muscle gains. If I remember correctly, you lift at least twice a week. Eventually, as the body fat melts, weight will be harder to lose, and your weight might even go up as you add muscle mass.

Just be sure to be aware of this, so as it gets coser to May, if you stop losing weight, don't assume you're getting fat, when in reality you're likely just gaining hard earned muscle. And even if you don't win all the money, you can be happy that someone else has gotten healthier, and so have you.
