Road Cycling - Shoe Covers

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Ok, I'm getting tired of cold feet. I live in AZ so I don't really need a thermo-insulated one, just a wind blocker really. Anyone have any suggestions? I have sidi shoes but that shouldn't make a difference. Is there any advantage to having a bootie that goes higher up? Excelsports has a bunch of covers.
Thanks

Go see Matt at Adventure Bicycle and get some toe covers and wool socks. Top of the line Assos toe covers cost less than $20.

Wrap your toes in sandwich baggies, then put on your shoes.

If you're not riding in extreme cold, just get some wind proof & insulated socks. Those should do the trick unless the temps dip below 45 for the length of the ride.

Here in so cal when its low 40's,i use wool socks over reg socks and shoe toe covers. They still get cold,my toes are frozen when i get home so come up with something better. Its only my toes, rest of foot is fine.
I got toe covers from velowear.com and I wear thick Smartwool socks.

I use my Pearls down to 10F, after which I use my Sorrels (SP?). Last year I use my Pearls down to -13F for my 9 mile commute, and lightly frostbit my toes. The Sorrels have so far been good down to -14F with about -30F wind chill.
