my chain fell off yesterday on my wet weather fixie, luckily no incidents occured as I was going down a quiet side street. I thought at first the chain was too loose and it probably was, so I removed a link and annoyingly the wheels now right at the front of the dropout, almost falling out. So I figure I'm going to need a half link to move it back slightly as there's not enough clearance for the mudguard. It's then I decide to check whether it needs an 1/8" or 3/32". It uses an old mountain bike chainring so I presume it must be 3/32" and I remember the box said the cog was a 3/32", but after a bit of measuring I find out the chain is actually a 1/8". (I bought this one second hand). Does anyone know whether this is a problem, should I replace the chain with a 3/32"

i would stick with another 1/8 chain, especially if you ride brakeless. i use a sram pc-1 on both of my fixies and have been happy with them. one of my fixies has 3/32 chainring and cog and haven't had problems with the chain being 1/8...

the only "problem" is when you mix 1/8 coggies and 3/32 chainers...or when you add unnecessary suffixes to words for "cute factor"...like me. I am a terrible human
