nice, what hubs? i like the top tube.

Morgie

suzue pro max, laced to aeroheads.

The top tube is nice, but it has the concave strip running along the top (to ad stiffness) that I fear will become a sort of bowl-o-sweat

Wow it looks great. I really love bikes with integrated headsets and flat bladed forks like that. A smooth line from fork to frame and then one of those curved caps on the top just looks soo sweet.

Love it!

I've not seen one of these in person, so don't kill me for this... but doesn't that look a LOT like the Leader frame?

Well played. :)

Either way, the frames do look alarmingly similar, do they not?

Yeah but what's in a look?

There is different seat tube angles, head tube angles, bottom bracket drops and marginally different effective top tubes between the two bikes, so they're not really that similar beyond looking close to each other.

If you're going to ignore the nitty gritty aspects of frame geometry most bikes pretty much look "alarmingly similar"...

Yeah but what's in a look?

Wait, wait, hold on. Please go back to my first post in this thread; I said I've never seen either in person and I don't know much about either. My question was to find out if, in fact, the look was indicative of something else (like same frame, different brands or whatnot).

So you've answered my question by relaying that the angles are different.

I supposed I should have started by asking directly if they were the same frame or not instead of comparing the looks. My bad. :)

elTwitcho

Oh nothing meant by it, I just find that to my more or less untrained eye nearly all aluminum track frames look basically the same on a superficial level, so I don't see looks being much of a valid measure of how similar a bike is... aside from aesthetics naturally ;)

They do look a lot alike, the factory probably designs the frame and then shop it around to whomever wants to stick their decals on it. At least, that is my understanding of the bicycle industry of late...

cc700

the top tube is different on the leader, the seat tube is different on the leader, basically everything's different.

this looks a **** ton like the fuji track pros.

but whatever.

Morgie
08-07-08, 06:21 PM
The differences between the leader and coltello have already been mentioned, but yeah it is similiar to a Fuji Track Pro. But I haven't ridden/seen up close a fuji track pro recently so I can't say exactly HOW similar.

As for cost I am not certain of MSRP, but I got a smoke'n deal (pro deals rock)..

Chainring is Zen but when I'm not at the track I ride road drops and a brake as opposed to track drops and brakeless. I like brakes, sue me.

FTP has a wider diameter toptube and a smaller diameter downtube.

do any of you with masi's have problems with pedal strike? the website lists a 70mm bb drop, which is what steered me away from them in the first place.

Morgie

No problem (yet) here, but I'm only going off of less then a week experience.

The bb drop is 45 on the Cotello (track), 70 on the Coltello Aero (Time trial). The website shows the Aero geometry.

Can someone explain the oury grips PLUS bar tape. Please.

Softer and cushy up top where you're going to be cruising anyway, and then still effective tape over the rest of the bars where you're going to be riding harder. Doesn't seem too weird to me...they make gel pads and various other similar things for handlebars.

Maybe the owner of that bike just doesn't want it to be all soft everywhere, I know I don't like my drops to be all squishy feeling.

you really need an explaination? not what i'd do, but i've seen it before. the tape stops where the grips begin. i've seen people put 4 oury grips on 1 bar, now thats funny. but... to each his own.
