Only 102 riders have started all three stages of this "start the stage if you want" stage race. Yesterdays results showed 170 finishers.

Today's stage was interesting, and apparently a thrilla as Kelme placed 4 riders in the breakaway top six, with Kelme's Valverde winning the stage. Their team manager probably zapped everbody on the team with a tazer gun before the race. Something happened because Bettini lost almost 11 minutes today. He has finished in the lead group the last two days. Zabel won the bunch sprint for 7th. He's in shape.

Laiseka has finished dead last in both stages he's started(LOL). That guy is to hip gotta go.

It's nice to see Oscar Freire's results here. He followed nicely with a win in the Trofeo Luis Puig.

Between Freire and Astarloa, Spain just might find its' Classics hero.

.

He won the Trofeo with a very nice attack and solo victory.

Cool.

Freire is my pick for Milan-San Remo. He can get over the Poggio quite nicely, thank you, and he blazes when he's healthy.

Freire doesn’t train enough.

I know Freire's training has been limited by his back problems in the past. I haven't read any info specific to his health this year, but it looks like he's healthy and training enough to ride away from some very tenacious riders like Zabel. Works for me.

don d., it's not only the back that makes Oscar skip training miles. He's also known to be far from fanatical about out-of-competition rides. ;)

Not that Freire's not a fine rider. He is. Especially since he started to develop as a classics man.

Well put Bruco!

33 professional victories, two World Championships, two Vuelta stages and a Tour de France stage. Not bad at all.

Freire doesn’t train enough.

Trains enough to have won the world championship twice , been second once and been knocked out of the zolder one when a german put a pedal through his front wheel in the last few km . :p
