I happened upon the scene just a few minutes after the accident. The kid on the bike looked to be 14-16yrs old, no helmet. The vehicle was a rather large SUV and it's hood was caved in pretty badly.
There were a great number of people around the scene and Emergency Vehicles were approaching as I got there.
This was just a few hundred yards from Medical Center Plano, where my wife works in the O/R dept. I called her and told her there looked to be a pretty bad truama case headed their way. I just called to ask if she had any news on the kid, and she said he hasn't been to the OR. This could mean several things, such as he went to Baylor but that was a bit farther away, he hasn't stabilized for surgery, or he didn't make it.
Honestly, from what I saw it didn't look good. None the less, keep the kid in your thoughts, if you would.
I should be asleep, but I don't think that's gonna happen for me today.

Sad. Wasn't able to turn up any news with a quick Google search.

I can't find anything at wfaa.com, kdfw.com or planostar.com.
Hopefully, we'll hear something encouraging soon.

My wife didn't hear anything, but it was toward the end of her shift. Truama isn't her thing, plus we have a kid about that age, and more than one bicycle.
I have to work tonight, so if anyone finds anything and can get a reply up, please do.
I ride and commute in Plano pretty much every day. I quit counting the number of times that I have almost been taken out. I can't imagine what the odds are like for a kid or new rider out on the roads here, especially if they are not riding psychotically defensively.
Let's just hope and pray that the kid is going to be all right.

Just came across this story, I was south bound sitting at a red light when the accident happened. If anyone does get any information i would like to find out how the teen is. I was heading to a job site when it happened I work for the City of Plano Signal's dept. He and his parents have been in my families prayers.
I have seen a lot of things but the site of that kid flying through the air is a site i soon will not forget.

Not all collisions get reported folks. Only if the family or friends bring in the press, or someone else, does any investigative journalism happen.... God I hope he made it.

Coit is the worst road in Plano for bikes. It is insanely dangerous.

The Plano PD has a page on their website where they post police blotters. The latest ones posted are from May. I don't know if it just takes a while to get them put up there or they have simply quit uploading them.

edit: After posting this, I found this part of their site. Apparently, they don't update the previous link anymore. This page is more up to date, but they haven't posted anything for August yet.

I was south bound on Coit when I came upon it. It really did look bad.
The part that worries me about the kid is that the he did not go into the OR at Medical Center Plano as far as my wife can tell. It is just few hundred yards from the intersection.
