Singlespeed & Fixed Gear - Lead-based paint

As I was getting my sand on the other day, I started to wonder if that sweet taste was my gum...or something more sinister.

Later that day, I forgot how to balance my checkbook - good thing I never do it anyway.

All kidding aside, is lead a serious concern with paint on older bikes, or is it just window candy? Obviously I'm no paint expert.

Just curious because my kids will be stupid enough as it is, and I don't want to help them any more than I must.

If you wear a dusk mask while sanding and perhaps some saftey glasses, that should cover most risks.

Oh and it helps not to leave your lunch in the same room as the bike that you are sanding :D

Yeah, the minichivos are going to need all the smarts they can get. Lord knows they aren't going to make it on coordination...or looks...however, missuschivo should be able to counteract any of those ugly genes you bring to the mix.

Dust masks are always a good idea when sanding. The number of times I've blown my nose only to be looking at red snot or blue snot or whatever colour I was sanding earlier that day...

Good job I don't smoke too, my lungs would be shot :)

Right on. It was the black snot the other day that made me go hum... Especially since I had my OSHA-approved old t-shirt over my mouth and nose while I was working away.
