Just read a book on inuit clothing, and it seems to be pretty sophisticated stuff.
Do any of you northern latitude riders wear furs?
The seamstresses who make the gear use curved seams, waterproof stitches, directional fur and leather grain. They use different furs for different tasks, eg using uneven length hairs to prevent icing up. It takes about 30 years to become an expert.
I knew a little about the fur parkas, but the inuit rain coats were new to me. These ultra-light waterproofs are made from whale gut.

Yes, i have my wife make me a pair every year after the seal hunt. It makes a real mess of the igloo but i am the warmest rider in my tribe.

i lived in alaska for quite a while and never wore furs. synthetics are very popular up there, believe me. :-)
