The G/F and I are planning to bring the bikes to this event and ride around for awhile. Is anyone else going?

Mayor Helps Kick Off Pedestrian Street Fair
August 07, 2008
The mayor along with hip-hop artist Jay-Z kicked off Summer Streets Thursday, a brand new initiative aimed at taking traffic off city streets and replacing it with people.
For the next three Saturdays, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., seven miles of streets from Central Park to the Brooklyn Bridge will be vehicle-free.
Rest stops along the route will have organized activities, such as salsa dancing and hopscotch, and music performances.
There will also be water and first aid kits. Pedestrians will be able to take a stroll or ride a bike.
"It probably will be pretty good for business. It should bring out – if the weather's good for the three saturday mornings, a lot of people who would not normally come," said Mayor Michael Bloomberg. "If the stores are open, they will patronize them or go to the restaurants, particularly if its outdoors."
