Here is the situation…
I have a ’04 Lemond Zurich with Mavic Aksium wheels and an Ultegra 9 speed cassette.

I just purchased a ’07 Lemond Zurich with the stock Bontrager Race wheels and an Ultegra 10 speed cassette.

I want to sell the older Zurich and have been thinking about swapping the wheels. Although the Mavics aren’t top of the line they seem more durable than the Bontragers.

My question…will the 10 speed cassette fit on the Mavic wheel and the 9 speed cassette work on the Bontrager?

Yup. Just make sure you keep the special Mavic spacer on there, also the 10 speed cassette will have it's own slim spacer in addition.

Thanks...at least I have an option now.
I've only had bad luck with Bontrager wheels they started cracking after a couple of years on two different bikes.

Trek dealer should warranty them.

+1
A MAVIC cassette is wider than a Shimano cassette, and the Shimano 9-speed cassette is wider than the Shimano 10-speed cassette. So you need both spacers.
