Blogger's Forum - Accident database

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
It sort of bothered me that there didn't seem to be a centralized place for people to record accidents, close calls, road hazards, etc.
So, I took a shot a creating an accident and hazard database integrated with Google Maps. Check it out:

Is this sort of thing useful?

i like the idea, especialy using technology that's out there to present information in a new user friendly way.
for it to be usefull you need to give a little more information as to the purpose you envision.
is it just a place for people to note down their experiences?
is it supposed to help people avoid dangerous routes/areas?
do you want to create a database that organizations can use as lobbying efforts for bike lanes or bike friendly laws?
do you want to use the site to promote awareness with non-cyclists?
post up some more info and i'm happy to provide some feedback
Good questions :).
I suppose my thought is that cyclists will fairly regularly have experiences on the road that range from annoyances (broken bottles, trucks parked in bike paths, etc.) to near death experiences (or worse). The goal of the site is to try to make something constructive happen by keeping track of these issues. This would include:
A) Letting other people know about it so they are aware. Currently the site is set up so that you can choose to receive email alerts when an issue is entered near your location. Hopefully this can increase safety by making people aware of the issues in their area.
and B) Encouraging people to do something about the problem. This could range from individuals who go back and sweep glass off of a bike path to providing information to help organizations and their lobbying efforts.
