General Cycling Discussion - Stripping the Paint on a Frame

hello, I have been searching the forums for an answer to this but could not fin done. IF you know what thread its in please post it or you can tell me here :D

Basically i want to repaint my frame but i have to get rid of the paint thats surrently on it. what simply and effective way could i use to get ride of it. Right now i am sanding it but its too slow.

Go to WalMart and get some spray on paint stripper. Let it sit a few minutes and most of the paint will fall off, use a wire brush to get the rest off. One thing for sure, do NOT get any of that stuff on you! It will eat through your skin fast. Just the overspray will burn your skin, this is some bad stuff. Makes the job much easier as long as you protect yourself.

Nope. Go ask for it they will know what it is. Definately worth looking into but dress like a spaceman when you use it, trust me...

I found a wire brush extremely useful. Brush on paint stripper is okay, but whichever method you use be prepared for a lot of hard work.

A way of removing old paint is to have the stripped frame bead blaster. Other than sand blasting bead blasting is not as aggressive as sandblasting and does not damage aluminium. Make sure to take the frame to a reputable place.
