I just completed my first metric century and beat my previous distance record by 19 miles. Overall, I felt great the entire time except for the last 9 miles. I'm a bit sore, but I can't wait to do a real century now.
Stats:
Ride time - 4:23:55
Average speed - 14.2 mph
Max speed - 37 mph

My first metric century my left leg cramped up the last 400m; every time I would make a revolution on the crank, it would cramp up. That was the hardest 400m ever ridden.

Every August Brattleboro memorial hosp. puts on a metric. Last year was my first one, It was brutally hot and humid, I tired keeping up with the peloton for the first 20 miles and paid for it at the last 15. I wasn't in the best shape for that. At the end of the ride the planners decided to climb the biggest hill in Vermont (or so it felt at the time) and on the other side of it I experienced my first ever asthma attack! Wow that was fun. I finally made it to the finish - and surprisingly I wasn't even last, I came in ahead of a guy who blew his rear tire at mile 45 or so and walked the rest of the way. Seriously it took me so long to finish even the broom wagons went home. I can't wait for this year!
