Introductions - Hello from sunny HOT Florida

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Equestrian here looking for a new ride and another way to keep fit. Been riding an old Walmart bike and decided I'm ready to take the plunge and buy a real bike that fits. Went to the cycling shop today and am considering the Trek 4300 WSD or the Gary Fisher Marlin GS. When I'm officially a real bike owner I'll let ya'll know;)

What a beautiful blaze!
What's your mount, and what kind of riding do you do?

Dutch Warmblood and Percheron. I like dressage but also do some hunters. My husband is a thoroughbred race trainer. I would like for him to get a cycle too he's into running I'm NOT.

I suspected that you might have a warmblooded cross there. That must be one tall horse!

He's about 16.3 wasn't suppose to get THAT big. I'm only 5'3" hopefully I have better luck when it comes to bike fitting:roflmao2:

Hmmm, in that case, you will probably prefer the WSD versions. Have you looked at the Specialized bikes? I much preferred the fit of the Specialized Dolce to the Trek WSD.

Hi desederada,
I'm a new member as well.
It so happens that I'm also an equestrian with a Perch/TB cross (we event).
Like you, I'm about 5'3" and happen to ride a very drafty 16.3 beast.
Finally, though, I have something I fit on even if it is 49cm of cold, hard steel :)
Nice to meet you and best of luck!

I see it is a road bike. I am first going to get a mountain bike so that I can enjoy some of the trails in the parks here. Too many crazy drivers here in central Florida for me to want to hit the road especially with my son.
