Hey,

been riding for 45 years.
used to commute to NYC from Staten Island.
great fun until I realized I could get killed pretty easily battling with taxis.

now I ride a 1995 GT Avalanche to my office once or twice a week.
Bought a 2001 Specialized Sirrus Comp this week and don't like the ride as well as the GT.

Will put it up for sale when they upgrade my account.
Listed on craigslist (http://newjersey.craigslist.org/bik/788141357.html) now.

Hello thegrape, what don't you like about the Sirrus Comp? Or is it just that the Avalanche is more comfortable for you?

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions :) !

The ride is harder because of the 25c tires. I took 4 minutes off my 28 minute ride uphill to my car (after work), but hope to get a smaller benefit from going to 1.25" tires on the GT. I like the fit of the GT better in terms of my position. In the perfect world, I'd keep both and I suppose I really could, but I have too much and think the 1.25 tires on the GT is the better compromise.

Thanks for asking.

Mmm, yes, the skinnier the tyre the harder (but faster) the ride will be.

Oh well, selling the Sirrus will get you a few bucks to put back in your pocket.
